TJKDesign: Home Page

From the W3C:

"On the Web, being up-to-date with the latest technologies is a difficult exercise: choosing the wrong tool or architecture can lead to losses in money, time, or customers."

For a more powerful Web site.

TJK.Templates: "all-in-one" Templates!

Our Templates are not just any design templates, they are CSS layouts that come fully loaded!

All TJK.Templates are well-formed XHTML Strict documents that assure complete separation of structure, presentation and behavior. Our table-less layouts demonstrate the effectiveness of XHTML/CSS techniques. No spacers (with a few exceptions), no rows, no columns, no junk! And they are super light on CSS hacks!

See deconstructing a TJK.Template to find out what we mean by "fully loaded" and check "Is this for me?" to find out how and if you can benefit from our Templates.

Clicking on the name of a Template in the tables below will launch it in the same browser window.

"W" stands for "Warning", click on it to find out about specifics related to a particular Template.
"—" means that the browser does not reveal the "hidden" SPANs (note that the page does not appear broken either).
"Y" means that the Template includes a Design-Time styles sheet for Dreamweaver MX+. Note that our Templates do not need these files in order to work. The only purpose of these files is to "help" Dreamweaver render the CSS and markup in "Design View" as a browser would. To learn more about this feature, press F1 In Dreamweaver and look for "Design-Time style sheets".

* In this Template (Cobra), position:absolute is used to display the disjointed rollovers, so they are slighly "off" when the user increases/decreases text-size in his/her browser.

Things to know about some of our Templates

"JavaScript" | Includes a fixed DIV

In MSIE 5 & 5.5 Win, the sidebar is not fixed.
MSIE5.0 Mac has a weird bug that makes the link areas inside a fixed DIV scroll with the page. This is invisible to the user but it makes the links un-clickable when the page is not in its original y-position (this does not occur with MSIE5.2 on OSX). Both MSIE Mac versions do not change the cursor shape when the user hovers over the links inside the fixed DIV. If you're planning to support version 5.0, my advice is to not put links inside such DIVs or use an external style sheet specific to IE5 Mac to not make that element fixed.
In Opera 7.23, at one point, the nested DIV inside the fixed container scrolls.

"Motion" | Includes a fixed DIV

In MSIE 5 & 5.5 Win, the sidebar is not fixed.
MSIE5 Mac supports position:fixed, but has an anomalous behavior whereby links in a fixed DIV do not look like links. So in IE5 Mac the SideBar is not fixed either.
In Opera 7.23 the position for the pop ups is not relative to the fixed DIV, but to the document, so they scroll away from the menu.

"Elsa"

In NN6, clicking on the icons inside the sidebar toggles the sub-menus, but does not reveal the sub-icons. This does not happen if the user clicks on the text links next to the icons.
